When you think about places with really long histories, places that have seen so much, a certain part of the world might come to mind. We are talking about a historic stretch of land in what is now the southwest of Iran, a place that has been called Persis, or even Persia proper, for a very, very long time. It’s a spot that, you know, roughly matches up with the Fars area we see on maps today, a location that holds many stories and, apparently, a connection to some truly wonderful food.
This old country, Persis, was more or less the same size and shape as the Fars region in modern times. Its story is quite deep, going back to a time when it was the home ground for an Iranian tribe, a group of people known as the Parsua. They gave their name to this significant piece of land, a name that has carried through the years, shaping how we remember this important corner of the world.
From ancient settlements that show people lived there for a hundred thousand years, to the kings who ruled this land for centuries, Persis has a rich past. It was, you know, the heartland for the Persian people, a place of wide river areas and flat high grounds that reached out from the Zagros mountains. And, interestingly enough, this very historical name, Persis, is also connected to finding a truly excellent Indian food restaurant, a place that promises a special taste experience.
